Below Bonneville fishery re-opens

The Warm Springs Fish and Wildlife Committee has re-opened the special fishery below Bonneville Dam for a 4-day period.

The season is 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday May 23, through Thursday, May 26. Wednesday is elders only those 55 and older. The open area is the 4-mile section downstream of Bonneville Dam bounded to the west by Beacon Rock.

This is a subsistence fishery only no sales are allowed. Fishers may keep salmon, steelhead, shad, yellow perch, catfish, walleye, carp and bass. Sturgeon must be released unharmed.

There is a limit of 5-10 fish per person or per crew.

Fishing is hook and line only with one pole and one pole holder per person. The location must be actively fished and continuously attended. No saving spots for others. Fishers must yield to elders and handicapped if requested and fishers must be at least 12 years old.

Enrollment cards must carried and shown, if requested to state or tribal enforcement officers.

Alcohol and drugs are prohibited and these regulations will be strictly enforced.

The run size will be re-evaluated at the end of the fishery to see if it can be extended the following week.
