June Fit Food Tip

This month is Dairy – Dairy can be used in many different ways to add a healthy boost to your meals – from snacks to breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Dairy foods supply calcium, vitamin D and protein to the diet. You should get 3 servings of low-fat dairy every day. But, on average, people are only consuming about 2 servings a day.

Dairy is important to build healthy muscles that help support healthy bones. A serving size is 8 ounce cup of milk or soy milk or yogurt.  It could also be 1 ½ ounces of natural cheese or 2 ounces of processed cheese or 2 cups of cottage cheese.  Monthly food tip is from Warm Springs Diabetes Program.
